Apparel SME's Move to Industry Specialist IT Systems

Manchester UK: 21st September 2004

Industry specialist IT vendor XeBusiness reports a fast growing trend amongst smaller apparel and textile companies to replace generic, cross industry accounting and business management systems linked to spreadsheets with trading systems developed specifically for the sector.

The company reports a clutch of recent new business contracts from suppliers finding their legacy business systems inadequate and cumbersome in dealing with the challenging quick response, cost management and logistics issues, competition and global sourcing are imposing within the sector.

Contracts to replace systems previously in use from apparel suppliers like Altimo (men's fashion), Golf 2 Golf (ladies golf wear and accessories), O'Neills (Ireland - sports and leisurewear) and The Stitch Factory (corporate wear) amongst others have been won by XeBusiness recently.

A further contract from TPI UK (children's and ladies nightwear sourced from Thailand) for the specialist XeBusiness warehouse management system module was also awarded to manage effective sourcing and distribution of product to the company's retail customer base that includes, BHS, Littlewoods, Dunnes Stores and Ethel Austin.

As a strategic part of its marketing operations, XeBusiness has targeted small(er) apparel suppliers with its scaleable management information systems product Xe-ERP that can typically provide a return on investment (ROI) of less than six months.

Pricing for the system is geared to the size of the apparel supplier (by sales turnover) to ensure affordability. Data conversion facilities and tools are available to make the move to Xe-ERP from incumbent systems as fast, and easy as possible.

Commenting on these contracts from this dynamic and turbulent small business segment of the industry, David Cullis, Chief Executive of XeBusiness said:

"Around 70% of our UK client base comprises apparel suppliers that can be classified as SME's and most of these companies do not have an in-house IT executive resource or indeed any significant IT expertise. XeBusiness becomes their virtual IT partner, providing close support before and after the new system is implemented to ensure they get maximum value for money from their investment with us. "
